Principal Clinical Psychologist (Neuropsychology)
Lothian Neurorehabilitation Inpatient Service
Location: NHS Lothian - main base currently Astley Ainslie Hospital anticipated East Lothian Community Hospital, flexibility across site may be required.
Band 8A fixed term for 6 months

An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in Neuropsychology and a talent for teamwork to lead our Clinical Neuropsychology service to the Lothian inpatient neurorehabilitation service, based at East Lothian Community Hospital in Haddington.
This part time position may be combined with additional hours in this or other parts of the NHS Lothian Psychology service for a candidate wishing additional hours. Job sharing or similar options can be explored for candidates wishing fewer hours. The post is offered on a fixed term basis due to ongoing service redesign proposals. We anticipate there will be future opportunity to apply for a permanent position in the service.
The posts covers the Inpatient Neurorehabilitation ward (ward 5 at ELCH), which is relocating from it's former base at Astley Ainslie Hospital. The relocation is associated with a reduction in number of beds to 24, and patients for neurorehabilitation being treated alongside a smaller number of amputee rehabilitation patients.
The service contributes to interdisciplinary assessment, rehabilitation and recommendations to support people and their families dealing with complex needs relating to post acute brain injury, stroke, progressive and other neurological conditions, as well as cross-covering the amputee rehabilitation patients, in collaboration with the Amputee Psychology outpatient service.
The inpatient neuropsychology staff team will comprise 1.2w.t.e. Band 8A (including this post) and 0.5 w.t.e Assistant Psychologist post. A request for additional Assistant support is in progress.
Clinical supervision and support will be from our very experienced current inpatient Band 8A Psychologist, with line manage ment and additional support from the Outpatient neuropsychology team at Astley Ainslie Hospital.
You will contribute to education, training and consultancy across the neuropsychology services and the MDT and where appropriate and will be encouraged to develop research and service improvement methodology.
The neuropsychology service has close links with the University of Edinburgh D.Clin.Psychol. course, providing teaching and specialist training placements. There will be opportunities to gain supervision skills and to support the clinical supervision of Assistant Psychologists and others. We are keen to support suitable candidates to attain further expertise in Clinical Neuropsychology to develop careers in this specialism and will work with you to support this.
Clinical Neuropsychology services in Lothian are managed with the Psychology Directorate in NHS Lothian therefore providing links with colleagues in other specialist areas.
