Description: The post-holder will be expected to provide a highly specialist resource for the provision of psychological assessment and therapy with responsibility for the specialism of mental health rehabilitation. The psychiatric rehabilitation service works with individuals who experience multiple disadvantages in all aspects of their lives. The individuals frequently have treatment resistant illnesses, have had adverse early life experiences and have been unable to engage successfully with mainstream health and social services. The post-holder will ensure the provision of a high-quality specialist psychology service to patients within this setting (and this may include both in-patients, and out-patients living within various levels of supported accommodation, and supported with the Community Rehabilitation Team). The role also involves providing specialist support and consultation to other members of the multidisciplinary, multi-agency team. The post-holder may also provide teaching, supervision, consultancy and research expertise to postgraduate psychology trainees and other mental health professionals. It is a requirement to work autonomously within professional, service and locality guidelines, and to contribute to systematic governance of psychological practice within the service. Finally, the post-holder will be expected to utilise high level research skills for audit, policy and service development as a major requirement of the job. This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record.
