About the Role

Tradewind Recruitment is currently working in partnership with a proud, thriving, and ambitious secondary school in the Dalton-in-Furness area to recruit a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant. As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a specific student who requires individual guidance to access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. You will play a pivotal role in supporting their academic progress, social development, and emotional well-being within the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with specific educational needs within secondary education.
• Adapt learning materials and classroom activities to ensure the student can fully engage with lessons.
• Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning atmosphere.
• Monitor progress, track development, and provide constructive feedback to teachers and the SENCO.
• Manage behaviour effectively using positive reinforcement and school policies.

Ideal Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Youth Worker within a secondary school setting.
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
• A valid DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one through Tradewind).
• Available to start ASAP.
