Job Description
  • Science Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEND teams and Schools throughout the UK. We have a high demand for one-to-one or small group SEND Specialist Tutors who have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and are commutable to the Gateshead area.

The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced SEND Specialist Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 lessons for students with a range of complex needs, including reduced mobility, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), and other neurodiverse or additional learning needs.

Successful tutors will be passionate about inclusive education, adaptable in their teaching approach, and confident in modifying lesson plans as students progress.

You will create a supportive, engaging learning environment that enables every student to develop confidence, achieve their potential, and make meaningful academic progress.

Rate of pay

up to £30 per hour (negotiable) Your role with us:

Deliver one-to-one or tuition supporting students with SEND, focusing on building confidence, helping to adapt the students' methods of learning and focusing on Key stage 3 and Key stage 4 level education.

Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.

Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families.

Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.

Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:

  • Possess UK classroom teaching experience
  • Have experience working with students with SEND including ASD, ADHD, GLD and challenging behaviours To be eligible for this role, the potential SEND Specialist Tutor must:
  • Hold the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Have a background in Tutoring Key stage 3 or Key Stage 4 level science
