1:1 SEN Tutor (Core Subjects) - L23 Merseyside

Location: L23, Merseyside
Hours: Part-Time, School Hours (Weekdays)
Pay: £25 - £30 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate 1:1 SEN Tutor to provide tailored educational support to learners in the L23 area of Merseyside. This rewarding role involves delivering personalised tuition during weekday school hours, supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across core subjects including English, Maths, and Science.

You will play a vital role in helping students build confidence, re-engage with learning, overcome barriers to education, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition sessions tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Support students in core subjects, including English, Maths, and Science.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of SEN needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties.
  • Plan and deliver personalised lessons that promote engagement and progress.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with students, families, and relevant professionals.
  • Encourage student confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning.
Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience within the UK.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK curriculum and core subjects.
  • Ability to deliver personalised and differentiated learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or relevant teaching/tutoring qualification.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or those out of mainstream education.
  • Previous experience delivering 1:1 tuition.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and targeted intervention strategies.
