1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism Support - Welling

Location: Welling, London Borough of Bexley

Contract: Full-time, Long-term

Salary: £95-£115 per day, depending on experience

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil with autism and sensory processing needs in a mainstream primary school in Welling.

Starting in January 2027, this long-term position is ideal for someone who understands that every child learns differently and enjoys finding practical, creative ways to support their development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual support to help the pupil engage with classroom learning.


• Adapt activities and resources to suit their learning and sensory needs.


• Support transitions between lessons and daily routines.


• Help the pupil develop independence and confidence.


• Use visual prompts, structured routines and sensory strategies.


• Collaborate with teaching staff to review progress and maintain consistency.

About you

• Experience supporting children with autism or SEND is desirable.


• You are patient, reliable and able to build trusting relationships.


• You understand the importance of predictable routines and clear communication.


• You can adapt your approach to the individual child.


• You are passionate about inclusive education.
