1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary Schools Manchester September 2026Location: ManchesterStart Date: September 2026Contract: Short-term and Long-term OpportunitiesSalary: Competitive, dependent on experienceAspire People are recruiting dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils across secondary schools in Manchester from September 2026.We are looking for enthusiastic Psychology graduates, Educational Psychology graduates, or graduates with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable school-based experience or continue a career supporting young people with additional needs.The RoleYou will work on a 1:1 basis with students who require additional support, helping them to access learning, manage their behaviour, and develop both academically and emotionally. Every child is different, so the ability to adapt your approach and build positive, trusting relationships is essential.Responsibilities Provide 1:1 support for students with SEND within the classroom. Support pupils academically and emotionally throughout the school day. Implement strategies to manage behaviour positively. Adapt support to meet each child's individual needs. Build strong, professional relationships with students and staff. Promote an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment. Work closely with teachers and the school's SEND team.Requirements A UK Bachelor's degree (Psychology, Educational Psychology or a related subject preferred). Previous experience supporting children with SEND through paid employment, university placements, or voluntary work. A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Reliable, resilient, patient, and adaptable. Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
