Job Description

Are you passionate about helping young people reach their full potential? St Martin's School is looking for a dedicated Youth Worker to join the team on a part time, job share basis. Location: St Martin's School, Caerphilly. Hours: Part-time (2 days per week). Contract: Fixed term, Term-Time Only (39 weeks, includes INSET days). Start Date: As soon as possible. As a Youth Worker, you will need to build a relationship and rapport with pupils and work in partnership with school staff, parents, and other agencies to support young people. Key Responsibilities Identify Target Pupils: Use specific criteria-such as attendance, teacher assessments, punctuality, and home support levels-to find and engage young people eligible for free school meals who need extra support. Remove Barriers to Learning: Assess individual needs, aspirations, and social barriers to create tailored Individual Learning Plans. Manage Learning Environments: Jointly run a designated "informal learning environment" inside the school. You will offer drop-in facilities, 1:1 support, and personal development group sessions. Support School Transition: Help pupils navigate the critical transition from primary feeder schools to secondary school. Multi-Agency Collaboration: Partner with parents, school staff, Careers Wales, FE colleges, and local training providers to build strong referral links and support pathways.
