What If You Could Keep Your Clinical Career Without the Shift Patterns? You've spent years building your clinical knowledge, assessment skills and professional judgement. But what if you could put those skills to use in a different way - without nights, weekends or unpredictable shifts?

As a PIP Disability Assessor in Luton, you'll use your existing clinical expertise to assess how health conditions and disabilities affect an individual's daily living and mobility.

Working on behalf of the DWP, you'll conduct structured assessments, review medical evidence and produce clear, evidence-based reports to support decision-making.

No previous Functional Assessor experience is required. Full, paid training is provided.

What's on Offer?

  • Salary: £45,000 increasing to £47,000 after 12 months
  • Location: Luton
  • Full-time and part-time opportunities
  • Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
  • No evenings, nights, weekends or bank holidays
  • Hybrid working, combining home and clinic-based work
  • 12-week fully paid training programme
  • 5% annual performance bonus
  • £2,000 salary increase after 12 months
  • Further salary progression as you develop specialist skills
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase additional leave
  • Up to 6% employer pension contribution
  • Funded CPD and reimbursement of registration fees
  • Employee discounts and wellbeing support
  • Structured career development in a clinically led environment

A Different Way to Use Your Clinical Skills as this isn't a traditional hands-on healthcare role. Instead, you'll focus on understanding how a person's condition affects their everyday life, using your clinical knowledge to assess their functional ability.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting 3 detailed telephone and face-to-face PIP assessments
  • Exploring how physical, mental health, cognitive and other conditions affect daily living and mobility
  • Taking detailed clinical and functional histories
  • Reviewing medical evidence and supporting documentation
  • Applying clinical reasoning and professional judgement to the information gathered
  • Producing accurate, objective and evidence-based assessment reports for the DWP
  • Managing your workload while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy

The DWP makes the final decision on benefit entitlement. Your role is to provide a fair, thorough and impartial assessment of the evidence.

Who We're Looking For?

  • At least 12 months of UK post-registration clinical experience in an adult setting
  • Strong clinical reasoning and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and report writing abilities
  • Confidence using IT systems and digital platforms
  • The ability to review complex information and reach evidence-based conclusions
  • A willingness to undertake structured training and work within established guidelines

Eligible professions:

  • Develop your assessment, analytical and report writing skills
  • Apply your clinical knowledge in a new professional setting
  • Maintain your clinical identity while exploring a different career pathway
