Year 1/2 Teaching Assistant Accrington (BB5)

Are you a passionate educator looking for a rewarding role in a vibrant Key Stage 1 setting?

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in the BB5 area starting after the Easter break. This is an ongoing contract with a strong potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

The Role:

Working across Year 1 and Year 2, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils during a key transition in their education. You will work closely with class teachers to deliver interventions, support Phonics (Read Write Inc. or similar), and help create an engaging, inclusive learning environment.

  • Start Date: After Easter (April 2026)

  • Location: Accrington / Oswaldtwistle area (BB5)

  • Contract: Ongoing, Full-time (Term Time Only)

  • Pay: £85 - £100 per day (depending on experience/level)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for Literacy and Numeracy.

  • Lead Phonics interventions to boost reading progress.

  • Assist with classroom management and preparing learning resources.

  • Support children with varied needs, ensuring every child can access the curriculum.

  • Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere for young learners.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience: Previous experience working in a UK Primary School (ideally KS1).

  • Qualifications: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred.

  • Skills: A solid understanding of the KS1 curriculum and Phonics.

  • Attributes: Patient, creative, and a true team player.

  • Compliance: Must hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
