Join our Infrastructure Works Train Department as a Works Train Technician (Electrical). You'll play a key role in servicing and preparing Works Train equipment to ensure it is safe, reliable, and fit for purpose. This includes diagnosing and repairing electrical issues on a variety of equipment such as rubber tyred vehicles, on track plant, on track machines (OTMs), and locomotives.
Key Responsibilities- Promote and adhere to Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Perform planned maintenance and fault diagnosis on electro mechanical equipment.
- Carry out electrical fault finding and corrective repairs to return equipment to service in a timely and safe manner.
- Assist in the preparation of equipment for service, including inspections and testing.
- Configure works train equipment, support shunting activities and complete pre departure checks.
- Operate works train equipment and locomotives within designated worksites.
- Accurately record and report equipment performance in line with procedures.
- Use and develop competence in computerised administrative and maintenance systems.
- Obtain qualifications to operate relevant equipment (MEWPs, locomotives, HP washers, PSV vehicles, forklifts, etc.).
- HND/HNC in an electrical engineering discipline OR BTEC/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) with experience in a technical environment.
- Previous hands on experience in an electrical maintenance environment.
- Experience in domestic, industrial, or automotive electrical maintenance.
- Full driving licence (manual and automatic).
- A valid Passport is required for this role.
- Rail industry experience.
- Ability to communicate in English; French language skills are an advantage.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of Health and Safety (H&S) Regulations.
- Adheres to all policies, procedures, and legal obligations relevant to the role.
- Works effectively with others, fostering a positive team environment and collaborating with stakeholders.
- Communicates confidently and clearly, with strong listening and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team sharing ad hoc duties and to work alone effectively.

- Willing and able to work a roster covering a 24 hour period, 7 days a week.
- Meets the required medical standards for the role.
