Job Description

Workday Consultant, £600-650 per day inside IR35

Remote Working, 3 months initially

Bench IT require an experienced Workday Consultant to join a global organisation starting ASAP. The successful Consultant will be working remotely and should have the skills and experience included below.

Experience

  • Understand clock events, worker and site mapping, time entry rules and exception handling.
  • Be able to explain how a third-party clock sends the employee ID to Workday Time kiosk.
  • Time-clock and badge-reader hardware
  • Practical experience with physical time clocks and relevant reader types, such as RFID/proximity, barcode, or magnetic stripe.
  • Tablet, kiosk software, and device deployment
  • Ability to trace a badge scan through the reader, clock application, integration, and a Time punch software like Workday or equivalent.
  • Proof-of-concept (POC) delivery
  • Able to design and run a practical POC using the proposed tablet, reader, software, ID card type, and Workday test environment.
  • Must produce test scripts, evidence, defects, results, and a clear recommendation-not just a product demo.
  • Deployment and operational handover
  • Experience estimating rollout effort across multiple sites, documenting installation and configuration steps, training support staff, and handing over an asset and support process.
  • Previous implementation of the specific proposed clock product and its Workday Time Kiosk integration.

Objectives

  • Solution options assessment: Compare and shortlist viable solutions, including the native Workday Time Kiosk and relevant Workday-integrated partner products based on research and POCs. Determine the correct criteria of comparison and base assessment report on these criteria. The challenge is how to use the output of a given reader (badge, barcode scan etc.) into the WD entry field, as the app explicitly cannot get the info automatically from a reader.
  • Workday integration evidence: For each shortlisted option, provide evidence of its Workday integration status and explain the data flow of the Employee ID from card to Workday Time Kiosk App.
  • Hardware recommendation: Recommend the tablet model, operating system/version, card generation mechanism and processing, applicability for WD time kiosk to run on the tablet/device, mounting approach, and ongoing maintenance approach. Card Reader compatibility assessment: Specify reader technology supported-such as proximity/RFID, barcode, magnetic stripe, or another required format-and confirm the exact reader model, connection method, data captured, and any Middleware or adapter required. Evidence based with vendor certification if available. Include vendor-confirmed compatibility, supported life cycle, update approach, warranty, and any restrictions on accessories or peripherals. Identify licences, and customer/vendor responsibilities.
  • Software recommendation: Identify all software requirements needed for it to work on the hardware/tablet
  • Technical architecture diagram: Produce detailed technical component diagram capturing network, power, device management, and any Middleware or vendor cloud components.
  • Document operational scenarios: Identify operational scenarios and document evidence that the recommended solutions deliver the required results, eg successful card clock-in/out, rejected or unknown card, duplicate or repeat scan, wrong-site handling, network interruption and recovery.
