Job Description

This is an initial 3-6 month contract, paying £500 per day, inside IR35, 2 days a week onsite in central Leeds.
We are seeking a skilled contract Windows Engineer to join a client s infrastructure engineering team. This is a hands-on role where you will play a key part in building, hardening, and automating Windows environments to enterprise standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce vanilla Windows builds and apply hardening/security baselines to meet compliance and security standards.
- Partner with senior engineers to automate build pipelines and design repeatable Day-2 operations patterns.
- Collaborate with VMware vRealize Orchestrator (vRO) developers to orchestrate provisioning workflows and streamline server deployments.
- Support onboarding of applications into a secure, standardised Windows platform.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, ensuring automation patterns are efficient, scalable, and platform-agnostic.
- Strong background in Windows Server engineering within enterprise environments.
- Proven experience applying hardening and security baselines to meet organisational and compliance requirements.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation and CI/CD pipelines for OS images and server builds.
- Familiarity with VMware vRealize Orchestrator (vRO) and automation workflows.
- Exposure to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and mixed VM/bare-metal build practices is highly desirable.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
