We are excited to be able to commence the search for the team for our new school, LighthouseHarrogate, due to open in the academic year 2026/27.

Lighthouse School Harrogate is a completely unique secondary school focussing on providing highquality, destination-led learning for students with a diagnosis of autism. We already operate a verysuccessful school in Cookridge near Leeds since 2012. We are a happy and vibrant community,where young autistic people learn, flourish and thrive. We are planning for an overall cohort of 80students with an initial intake of 24. Students study KS3, and a range of Level 1/2 and Level 3qualifications, including BTECs and GCSEs.

The Wellbeing Tutor plays a key role in promoting the wellbeing, personal development, and positive outcomes of students through the delivery of specialist interventions, PSHE and wellbeing education, mentoring, and pastoral support. Working across the school, the post holder leads targeted wellbeing programmes, develops and delivers autism-specific interventions, and supports students to overcome barriers to learning, engagement, and social inclusion.

The role provides specialist expertise in areas such as positive mental health, emotional literacy, pastoral support, RSE, or positive attitudes to life, while coaching and supporting staff in behaviour management and welfare strategies. Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals, the Wellbeing Tutor contributes to EHCP planning, behaviour support, safeguarding, educational visits, and the wider wellbeing agenda, ensuring students are supported to achieve their full potential within a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

All roles will be Trust appointments and whilst based primarily in Harrogate may be required to work across other schools in the trust which could extend beyond Leeds in the future.

Contract: Monday to Thursday 08:30-16:30 and Friday 0830 - 1600 (with a 30 minute unpaid lunchbreak each day)

FTE salary: SCP 12-20, Actual Salary: £24,566 to £28,001 for 37 hours per week 38 weeks per year plus 5 training days.
