Job Description

Join our friendly Welcome Team at Newark Park and play a key role in delivering exceptional experiences for our visitors.

As the public face of our properties, you'll provide a warm, friendly welcome, give information about the property, answer questions and make sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable visit.

Salary: £13.25 per hour

Contract/duration: Permanent

Hours/ working pattern: 582 hours per year. This role is based on annualised hours, meaning the number of hours you work each month will vary depending on operational demand and our opening times across the year. However, your salary will be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.

Working days will vary to support our busiest periods, including bank holidays and school holidays, with weekend working required on a rotational basis. Typically, you will work fewer hours in the quieter winter months and greater hours across the rest of the year. While we aim to provide a consistent pattern where possible, flexibility is essential, and we will always give as much notice as we can.

For this role, you'll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What it's like to work here

High on the ridge of the Cotswold escarpment, with uninterrupted views of the valley below, Newark Park is a picturesque estate with a historic home at its heart. Built as a Tudor hunting lodge, a succession of families made it their home over the next 400 years, before it was given a new lease of life by American architect Bob Parsons in the late 20th century. The gardens are built over three levels with seasonal highlights including snowdrops, daffodils, wild garlic and autumn colour. The 750-acre estate is criss-crossed with waymarked walks, which run through a mosaic of habitats.

Reporting to the Welcome Manager, you'll be part of the Visitor Welcome Team at Newark Park, working alongside a dedicated group of Welcome Team staff and volunteers.

Great visitor experiences are in our nature, and we believe everyone should feel welcomed, appreciated and more engaged because of the service you provide. This role would suit someone with real enthusiasm for delivering excellent customer service.

What you'll be doing

Day to day, you'll deliver a great all round customer service experience, providing a warm, informative and helpful welcome to visitors from the moment they arrive. You'll be on hand to answer queries and listen to what our visitors need so you can share the right information. Your role is to make sure our visitors have the best day they can.

This role is based across Visitor Reception and the house, depending on where you are based for the day. When working in the house, you'll greet visitors, support the smooth running of daily operations and help ensure that volunteers have a positive and rewarding experience while volunteering at Newark Park.

You'll play an active role in supporting the National Trust by talking to visitors about membership and signing up new members. Alongside this you'll be handling payments securely and following clear procedures.

Maintaining high standards across the site will also be part of your role. This includes helping to keep visitor areas clean and well presented, supporting events and activities, and selling trails and event tickets to enhance our visitor experience.
