Visitor Experience Officer

Summary

We are looking for a Visitor Experience Officer for Sunnycroft in Wellington, Telford. This role reports to the Site Manager based at Sunnycroft and will support the creation and build of the Father Christmas experience at Sunnycroft, along with the operational management of the experience throughout the festive period.

Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust is all about people - connecting with them, inspiring them, and making sure they have the best possible day when they come to visit.

Salary: £16,567.20 pro rata (FTE £27,612 per annum)

Contract: Fixed term contract until 24-Dec-2026

Hours/ working pattern: Part-time, 22.5 hours per week, this role will include working weekends and evenings during December.

What it's like to work here

Sunnycroft is small in size but was designed to impress. This suburban villa was built by the emerging middle class in an industrial society to emulate the country houses and estates of the landed gentry, but on a much smaller scale.

Today, Sunnycroft opens to a variety of visitors at set times throughout the year. Each December, Sunnycroft is transformed into a magical and immersive Father Christmas experience for families to enjoy. Often an annual tradition for visitors, each year the theme and decorations change.

As part of the Sunnycroft team, you will work alongside the Site Manager, volunteers and Visitor Welcome team to create, build and operate this year's magical Father Christmas experience. You'll ensure high standards of presentation and customer service, as well as the smooth running of the property during the event.

What you'll be doing

As Visitor Experience Officer, your main focus will be on providing a great service for visitors. With your team, you'll be welcoming people and inspiring them to really get to know Attingham Park. This might include devising and running events and activities, and creating interpretive displays and other ways of bringing the place, and its stories, to life for everyone who comes here. You'll encourage visitors to take a closer look at artworks or precious objects cared for by the Trust.

You will work with an amazing group of volunteers to design, build and deliver the Father Christmas experience. You'll carry out duty management, work some weekends and be prepared to get "stuck in" to creating a unique experience at this special time of year.

You might be supervising and supporting volunteers and organising rotas. You're likely to be checking standards of presentation on site, or helping to write for our web pages.

Who we're looking for

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
• A proactive and committed team player.
• Experience of supporting events and visitor-facing operations.
• Creative and practical skills in producing displays, interpretation, marketing or promotional materials.
• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and digital platforms.
• Experience of cash handling and accurate record keeping.
• Awareness of health and safety requirements.
