We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice Principal who will also take on teaching responsibilities for Key Stage 1 (KS1) students from September 2024. The Vice Principal will work closely with the Principal to provide leadership and support in the day-to-day operations of the school, with a particular focus on the KS1 curriculum and student welfare. In addition to administrative duties, the Vice Principal will be actively involved in classroom teaching, curriculum development, and student assessment within the KS1 phase. This role requires a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment, promoting student well-being, and implementing strategies to enhance academic achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Principal to develop and implement school policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and support to KS1 teachers, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning experiences for all students.
  • Actively participate in classroom teaching, delivering engaging and effective lessons to KS1 students.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the KS1 curriculum, including the integration of new teaching methodologies and resources.
  • Monitor student progress and academic performance within the KS1 phase, implementing interventions as needed to support student learning and achievement.
  • Contribute to the professional development of KS1 staff through mentoring, coaching, and training opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and stakeholders regarding student progress, behaviour, and school events.
  • Assist in the management of student behaviour and welfare, promoting a safe and inclusive school environment.
  • Support the Principal in various administrative tasks, such as staff management, budgeting, and scheduling.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and significant experience teaching Key Stage 1 students.
  • Proven leadership experience in an educational setting, such as a Head of Year or subject lead role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, parents, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, assessment practices, and educational standards.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of educators, fostering a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage student behaviour and promote a positive school culture.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of current trends and best practices in education.
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance, or willingness to undergo background checks as required by the school.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and respond to changing circumstances in a school environment.
