Veterinary Surgeon - Emergency Out of Hours (9 Month FTC)

Scarsdale Vets Pride Park, Derby is looking for an Emergency Out of Hours Veterinary Surgeon to join our team on a 9 month fixed term contract (running December '25 - September '26).

This role is a unique opportunity to see a diverse and steady caseload as we cover out of hours for our own practices and a number of surrounding practices. If you enjoy emergency caseload and the challenge of non routine cases then this role could be exactly what you are looking for. We have an excellent range of facilities and equipment which contribute to a high standard of patient care.

Your role will involve looking after the existing in patients and undertaking procedures/emergency surgery as required, e.g. foreign body removal, GDV, C Section, dressing changes.

This is a unique way of working-perfect for someone looking to increase their exposure to an emergency caseload while following a supportive 7 on, 14 off rota pattern.

The Team

The main hospital is based at Pride Park in Derby and is home to a busy first opinion practice, a multidisciplinary referral service, and an out of hours service. We have eight practice sites in addition to the hospital.

We have a talented and enthusiastic experienced team of veterinary surgeons supported by an exceptional team of Registered Veterinary Nurses, Veterinary Care Assistants and Client Care Advisors.

All our stand alone practices are RCVS approved. Our main hospital is well equipped with a CT scanner, MRI, advanced ultrasound, endoscopy, digital X ray, dental radiography, and multiple surgical suites, as well as an onsite hydrotherapy & rehabilitation centre and our multidisciplinary specialist led referral service.

Applicant Requirements

Previous experience in OOH or a rotating internship would be advantageous but ultimately we are looking for people who thrive in a fast paced, challenging yet supportive environment, where first class patient care is at the core of everything we do.
