GVC are proud to be assisting a well-established veterinary group in West Yorkshire in their search for a Veterinary Surgeon.
The Role This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join as a Roving Vet across multiple practices in West Yorkshire. The role offers the variety of working in different primary care clinics, alongside regular time at a large, purpose-built Tier 3 hospital. The position is four days per week, Monday to Friday only - no weekends and no out-of-hours. The rota is provided at least six weeks in advance, giving excellent stability and work-life balance.
Location: The group operates 11 practices across South and West Yorkshire, all located within a short drive of each other. The main hub is a Tier 3 Hospital with excellent facilities and a large, supportive clinical team.
Hospital featuresThe hospital includes:
- Separate dog and cat waiting areas (Silver Cat Friendly)
- Air-conditioned consulting rooms (15 minutes minimum)
- Fully equipped theatres
- CT scanner, high-quality ultrasound, X-ray, visiting MRI
- Dedicated dental suite with X-ray
- Middle-tier referrals on site (dermatology, ophthalmology, surgery)
- Comfortable staff rest area
This veterinary group is proud to offer both primary care and referral-level services, including:
- Laparoscopy, endoscopy, soft tissue & orthopaedic surgery
- Cardiology, ophthalmology, dermatology
- In-house CT imaging
- Rehabilitation service including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and laser therapy
With such a varied caseload, every day brings new challenges - from routine consultations and preventative healthcare through to advanced surgery and referral cases.
The TeamThe group has a large, experienced, and supportive team of vets, nurses, and client care staff. Many vets are working towards certificates in areas such as surgery, imaging, dermatology, cardiology, and ophthalmology.

What They're Looking ForThe ideal candidate will be:
- Confident with both sole charge and hospital work
- Skilled in consulting, routine surgeries, and emergency case management
- Adaptable and comfortable working across different practices
- A strong clinical decision-maker with excellent treatment planning and case management skills
This role may particularly suit a vet who enjoys the variety and flexibility of locum work but prefers the security and benefits of a permanent position.
