About the Role
The successful candidate will be an experienced, fully qualified HGV Vehicle Technician, joining a team responsible for the servicing, repair, and maintenance of the fleet of emergency vehicles, plant, equipment, and light vehicles that support Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service.
- Demonstrable experience of servicing, repairing, and diagnosing faults on light commercial and heavy vehicles, within a professional Workshop environment
- NVQ Level 3 Heavy Vehicle qualification (or equivalent e.g. City and Guilds)
- Full driving licence, ideally with category C entitlement (LGV)
- Experience in electrical fault finding on vehicle CAN systems
- Experience of welding and associated equipment
- Vehicle and tool hydraulics
- Self-motivated - able to work on own initiative to high standards of work
- Live within 30-minutes of travelling time to Aylesbury
- IRTEC accreditation
- Potential to earn additional overtime for out-of-hours on-call availability
- Working hours: Monday to Thursday 08.00-17.00, and Friday 08.00-16.00 (no weekends, other than on-call rota call-out)
- No shift working
- 25 days holiday, increasing to 30 days with five years' service + bank holidays
- Opportunity for training and development by means of onsite and residential training courses
You will be required to take part in the emergency on-call rota one week out of seven, attracting a standby rate of £352 per week completed. You will initially be mentored by another team member, usually for the duration of the six-month probationary period.

Salary: £46,173 to £46,880 gross per annum (including guaranteed overtime and tool allowance), plus potential to earn additional overtime for out-of-hours on-call availability.
