An exciting opportunity has arisen for a vascular scientist/technologist to join our team here in Lincolnshire.
The vascular service is based at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, Lincolnshire. However, the role will entail traveling to the peripheral hospital to assist in consultant led one stop clinics.
The Vascular Suite is a purpose built department with Toshiba, GE, and Vicorder for ABPI measurements. The consultant and outpatient clinics are all run from this department so that patients do not have to be moved around the hospital for scans.
Main duties of the job- Carotid duplex scan
- Ankle/brachial index
- Treadmill test with ankle/brachial index
- Arterial duplex scan of upper and lower extremities
- DVT screening
- Venous duplex scan of upper and lower extremities
- Vein mapping and pre op marking of the veins of upper and lower extremities
- Renal artery duplex scan
- AAA scan
- Transcranial duplex scan and TCD monitoring in theatre
Perform vascular diagnostic imaging and assist in consultant led one stop clinics across the hospitals.
Qualifications- Degree in an appropriate subject or equivalent in level of knowledge
- General diploma in medical ultrasound (DMU) or equivalent
- In depth experience of working in vascular diagnostic scans
- Experience training junior technicians/trainees; training supervisor role
- Experience in service development and business planning
- Good IT skills (ECDL level 1 or equivalent)
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to deal with complex and unpredictable situations
- Awareness and knowledge of the dignity in care agenda
- ECDL level 2
- Ability to receive and impart complex information from and to patients and other NHS staff
- Ability to move/handle patients and equipment
