Valuations Analyst/ Senior Analyst

Your new company
My client is a well-funded, recently formed independent valuations consultancy, whose partners have a stellar track record in private equity, legal, accounting and tax. With an already-full order book, they are attracting work from all these sources plus directly from C-suite/B2B.
Your new role
The firm are being instructed on a wide range of mandates, and you may well find yourself building up especial depth in valuations for shares, share plans (eg MIPs, LTIPs) and options schemes, tax advisory, M&A valuations and Portfolio valuations for PE/VC clients. You may also occasionally help produce reports for Expert work (ie. contentious valuation) usually in SJE matters.
Your role is very much centred around technical inputs and delivery. The Partners see BD as their own job, and there's no expectation for you to be out there too!

What you'll need to succeed
Refreshingly you don't need to be "the full 360." What do we mean by this?
Well, this is what you definitely will be/have:

• Minimum 2 years' valuation advisory experience gained in an accounting firm or equivalent independent. You'll either have started as a graduate trainee, or have converted to valuations on qualification 2+ years ago.
• A significant proportion of that experience to have been in valuations for financial reporting (but don't worry, this is more as an assurance factor of technical background than an indicator of WIP. Likeliest PPA involvement will be for PE clients.)
• Someone who sees themselves as an innate mathematician and modeller. Maybe even someone who enjoys being total immersion in the world of the model you are building/creating or reviewing.

And this is what you definitely DON'T have to be/have:

• Business development skills
• A naturally client-facing persona

So you can be empowered to be your technically diligent and detailed self, and don't have to concern yourself with the commercial workings of the firm. Bonus will be pegged to technical performance too, so you won't be losing out by not doing BD.
