Job Description

Job title: Senior Production Manager

Date released: 01/04/2026

Reports to: Head of Performance & Culture

Salary and contract: TBA, full time permanent

Routine working location: UK, 3 days per week in our London office

What you'll do

At Audience, we don't just "put on shows"; we build environments that change how people feel. We're obsessed with the blend of art and science (what we call Audience-ology). It's our way of understanding human behavior to create technical environments that actually work.

As a Senior Production Manager, you are the bridge between a "big idea" and a safe, spectacular reality. You're here to ensure our most complex technical builds, from high-end lighting and sound to bespoke physical structures, are delivered on time, on budget, and with zero compromise on the creative vision. You'll be leading the technical charge on our most ambitious projects, turning concepts into fully-realised physical and digital experiences with the highest can-do (and want-to) energy!

Live by the department's "beyond the brief" mantra: Always pushing for better and proposing more comprehensive solutions through the project lifecycle.

Technical architecture: You won't just hire a kit list. You'll design the technical solution. You'll work with the Lead Creatives from the start to ensure their vision is technically feasible and structurally sound.

Supplier management: You'll curate and lead our network of specialist partners. You're responsible for negotiating with AV, lighting, transport and build crews to ensure we're getting the best quality for the best price. However, this is the events industry, so don't be surprised if your supplier is a hot air balloonist or a camel delivery firm.

On-Site leadership: You are the lead on-site. You know everyone there and nothing moves without your say-so. You manage the install, oversee the live show, and lead the de-rig, ensuring every technician and freelancer is working to our high united standards.

The seamless handover: You'll work closely with the Account Directors to ensure the "scoping to delivery" process is bulletproof. You ensure that when a project moves from pitch to production, nothing is lost in translation.

What we're looking for

You are a technical expert who speaks the language of both engineers and creatives. You have at least 7+ years of experience in high-end live events, brand experiences, or technical theatre.

Technical mastery: You have a deep understanding of AV, lighting, sound, and structural builds. You're comfortable reviewing CAD plans, renders and tech specs to spot issues before they happen or differences from the plan to reality, before reality hits!

Technical translation: You can distil complex technical detail into clear, confident language; bringing clients and internal teams with you, and ensuring everyone understands both the possibilities and the boundaries.

Budget precision: You take pride in managing large-scale production budgets. You can forecast costs accurately and ensure we hit our GP targets through smart procurement and resource management.

Supplier command: You build strong relationships with technical suppliers and crews, getting the best out of them on-site and ensuring they operate as a seamless extension of our team.

Pre-emptive planning: You think ahead. From power and rigging to access and contingencies, you pressure-test plans early so there are no surprises on site.

Safety and compliance: You lead on H&S. You ensure all RAMS, insurance, and venue requirements are handled with total rigor.

Problem solving under pressure: You're the calmest person in the room when the rig is going up. You can troubleshoot technical failures on the fly and find solutions that keep the show moving.

Internal flow: You're great at the "in-between." You know how to brief the creative team on technical constraints early so they don't design the "impossible" and proposed solutions enhance the idea rather than restricts it

Knowledge hub: Lead and mentor Production Managers and Assistants, delegating tasks whilst maintaining oversight, nurturing new talent and being the all-knowing knowledge base for all of those technical and practical skills.

Supertight paperwork: We run various systems to track project progress but you'll be keeping a very close eye on the production schedule and the impact any changes make!

Technical Accuracy track record: Zero major technical failures during live events and 100% compliance with H&S and venue regulations.

Experience in our field: Worked in conference, exhibition and brand pop-up spaces, on major shows and in international venues, with budgets over £1m.

Hands on attitude: Ideally trained in Vectorworks or AutoCAD, comfortable around a FOH position and not afraid of packing a flight case.
