User Researcher

Scotland - 6 month contract (Hybrid with two days per week in Edinburgh)

£450 p/d

User Researchers play a critical role in designing, planning and conducting research to understand what people need from a service. You'll translate these insights into clear recommendations that support user-centred service design. Working closely with designers, product owners, developers and wider Agile teams, you will test services throughout their development and use evidence to inform and explain design decisions.

What You'll Do

  • Apply Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and usercentred design principles to guide high-quality research and service development.
  • Advise clients on how to solve complex problems using research, people-centred design and Agile methodologies.
  • Lead multidisciplinary Agile teams to design services that meet clearly identified user needs.
  • Champion inclusive research approaches to ensure services work for all users.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders, while confidently challenging assumptions and facilitating difficult conversations when needed.
  • Support and mentor user researchers and advise colleagues on how to maximise value from user research activities.
  • Promote the organisation's people-centred design offering internally and externally, demonstrating best practice in user research.
