Senior User Researcher - SC Cleared

Role Overview

  • Location: London (Hybrid/Remote options dependent on client policy)

  • Duration: 3 months initially

  • Rate: £500 per day (Umbrella/Inside IR35)

  • Clearance: Active Home Office-sponsored SC Clearance is essential


About the Role

We are urgently seeking an experienced Senior User Researcher to join a high-profile government client in London. Operating within complex environments and sensitive policy areas, you will plan and lead user research activities to help shape critical public services that adhere strictly to GDS standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build & Align: Establish user-centred practices within new teams and align research activities with wider strategic plans to inform the service proposition.

  • Leadership & Development: Supervise, mentor, and develop other user researchers to assure and consistently improve research practice.

  • Methodology: Cohesively explain processes and research methods to diverse groups.

  • Sensitive & Complex Contexts: Work effectively in high-scrutiny environments, managing press attention and designing/researching with vulnerable users, including those with specific access needs or accessibility requirements.

  • Stakeholder Management: Navigate and engage challenging stakeholders, successfully advocating for User-Centred Design (UCD) in fast-paced delivery environments.


Essential Criteria

  • Active Home Office-sponsored SC Clearance (Mandatory).

  • Proven public sector experience and strong alignment with GDS standards.

  • Demonstrated senior-level experience planning and leading research in complex, multi-disciplinary teams.
