Job Description
Urogynaecology Specialist Nurse

As a nurse specialist within a defined sphere of practice the post holder will undertake a range of duties to ensure the effective delivery of care, including undertaking specialist procedures and providing specialist advice and ongoing support to the patient group.

Main duties of the job
  • Manage a caseload of patients delivering and evaluating programmes of care.
  • Act as a specialist resource providing evidence based advice and information to promote the health and well being of urogynaecology patients, offering clinical expertise in treatments and therapies to optimise positive health outcomes.
  • Provide a dedicated telephone contact service for patients with urogynaecological disorders, offering ongoing advice, information and support.
  • Act as a specialist resource for nurses and other members of the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • In collaboration with the urogynaecology MDT and under the managerial supervision of the gynaecology outpatient Nurse Manager, develop and expand the service in line with BSUG/NICE guidelines and the HEY clinical governance framework.

Person Specification Education/Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse, 1st level with current N.M.C. Registration
  • Nursing degree or experience acquired through specialist knowledge
  • Registered Mentor
  • Teaching qualification
Knowledge, Training & Experience
  • Proven experience as a Registered Nurse with experience of service development and change management
  • Clinical leadership experience
  • Experience within women's health and/or urology
  • Experienced in the delivery and running of nurse led services
  • Clinical supervision
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively and cohesively across all professional disciplines
  • Implementation of clinical governance systems
  • Facilitates and actively develops new services to meet patients' needs
