Job Description

Job Title: Upholsterer - Location: Leicester - Salary: £35,000 (competitive, depending on experience) - Hours: Full time - Contract type: Permanent

Harper Recruitment Group are working in partnership with a respected British manufacturer based in Leicester. We are looking for an experienced Upholsterer to join their expanding workshop team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with up to four years' experience who is passionate about traditional craft, high quality materials and producing exceptional furniture.

The successful Upholsterer will work closely with a highly skilled Master Upholsterer and receive full training across a wide range of designs and upholstery techniques. This organisation is committed to investing in British craftsmanship and offers long term development for the right person.

What will the role involve?
  • Preparing and upholstering furniture to agreed quality standards
  • Applying traditional and modern upholstery techniques under expert guidance
  • Working with responsibly sourced fabrics, leathers and fillings
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment
  • Supporting general workshop duties including tidying, stock movement and material replenishment
  • Contributing to consistent production of high quality upholstered products
  • Demonstrating a proactive, positive attitude and willingness to take on additional responsibilities
Skills and experience required:
  • Ideally up to 4 years' experience in a similar upholstery role
  • A qualification in upholstery is desirable but not essential
  • Proficient in the use of upholstery tools and workshop equipment
  • Experience in both traditional and modern upholstery methods
  • Strong understanding of upholstery preparation, bodywork, fabrics and leathers
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high standards
  • Proactive, self motivated and able to work well within a team
  • Enthusiasm for furniture making and developing new skills
  • Safety conscious approach with awareness of safe tool and machinery use
Hours of work

Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Friday: 8:00am - 1:00pm
