Unqualified Teacher - Secondary School Newcastle
Full-time - Monday to Friday
£550 - £600
We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondaryschool in Newcastle that is seeking a confident and enthusiastic Unqualified Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis.
This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced teaching assistants, youth workers, sports coaches, tutors, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a secondary school setting.
The position is due to start in September 2026 and offers the opportunity for a long-term placement with potential permanent opportunities.
Working hours are 8:30 amto 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
About the RoleAs an Unqualified Teacher, you will lead lessons during the absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged, focused, and on task with the work provided. You will be responsible for maintaining high expectations of behaviour, supporting student learning, and creating a positive classroom environment.
You will work across a variety of subject areas and year groups, gaining valuable experience within a supportive secondary school environment.
Main Responsibilities- Deliver pre-planned lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.
- Support students to complete set work and achieve lesson objectives.
- Manage behaviour in line with school policies and expectations.
- Encourage student engagement, participation, and achievement.
- Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student progress and behaviour.
- Promote inclusion and equality of opportunity for all students.
- Support the wider school community where required.
- Recent experience working with young people within the last two years.
- A passion for education and supporting student success.
- Strong communication, literacy, and numeracy skills.
- Confidence leading groups of students in a classroom environment.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A professional, reliable, and adaptable approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
- Degree-educated candidates are desirable but not essential.
