Your personal sphere of influence:A doctoral university assistant position ("Praedoc") is to be filled at the Department of Business Analytics and Decisions starting from December 1st, 2025. The contract duration upon appointment is 4 years, with the employment initially being limited to 1,5 years and can automatically be extended to a total of 4 years, provided that the employer does not issue a non-extension notice within a maximum of 12 months.Your future tasks:You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of Operations Research and Machine Learning.We expect you to complete your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.You will work on your dissertation and its completion.You will independently conduct teaching activities within the scope of collective bargaining agreements, in the field of Production and Logistics.You will undertake administrative tasks in research & teaching.You will supervise students.You will participate in publications/scientific presentations. This is part of your personality:You have experience with exact and (meta-)heuristic solution methods in the field of Operations Research.You have a Master's degree in industrial engineering, information systems, business administration and/or economics, computer science or a related field.Experience performing and publishing academic research at peer-reviewed conferences and journals is a plus.You are an experienced programmer, preferably using the Python programming language.You are interested in automatic algorithm configuration, and have perhaps even worked on related problem areas of artificial intelligence / operations research.You are a team player with excellent social/communication skills.You have experience using deep reinforcement learning methods.
