About the Role

This role focuses on designing, implementing, and securing operational technology (OT) solutions for power, water, and gas utilities. Responsibilities include OT architecture, cyber security, and OT delivery across critical facilities and enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define OT solution requirements and support technology selection, design, testing, and implementation.
  • Design secure IT/OT integration architectures, including data flows, connectivity, access controls, and network segmentation.
  • Configure and customize OT platforms and communication technologies.
  • Deliver solutions across SCADA, ADMS, DERMS, EMS, DCS, PLC, HMI, historian, RTU, and telecommunications environments.
  • Design OT data architectures and communications spanning historians, contextualisation, asset/tag standards, and integration to enterprise systems using DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870-5-104, OPC UA, MQTT, etc.
  • Address brownfield realities including obsolescence management, legacy RTU & SCADA migration, multi vendor estates, and change control on live operational systems.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in OT selection, modernisation, digitisation, and technology road maps.
  • Produce solution designs, implementation plans, configuration documentation, go live plans, road maps, and technical documentation.
  • Support project planning, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
  • Lead OT workstreams and delivery teams, manage vendors, systems integrators, and OEMs, and manage scope, technical assurance, and acceptance.
  • Plan and execute migrations, cutovers, and phased rollouts, with rollback and contingency planning.
  • Report and track technical and delivery issues, risks, and dependencies to support PMO processes.
  • Design and implement OT cyber security assessments, risk reviews, remediation planning, and secure OT architectures with segmentation, remote access, monitoring, and access management.
  • Support threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and security assurance activities.
  • Develop governance, security controls, and compliance requirements for OT environments, applying NIS2, IEC 62443, NIST, ISO 27001.
  • Support maintenance, enhancements, and patching of OT security platforms and applications.
Skills and Attributes for Success
  • Experience with OT architecture, cyber security, and OT delivery in utilities.
  • Hands on knowledge of SCADA, ADMS, DERMS, EMS, DCS, PLC, HMI, historian, RTU, and related technologies.
  • Understanding of industry communication protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870 5 104, OPC UA, MQTT).
  • Experience designing secure IT/OT integration architectures.
  • Project management skills, including vendor management, scope definition, and delivery oversight.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work on complex, multidisciplinary teams.
