EFL Residential Teacher - Job Type: Residential, Full-Time. Reports to: Director of Studies. Country: United Kingdom. Location: Reading. Dates: July 1 to July 14, 2026.

Responsibilities- Responsible for the planning and delivery of the academic program of EFL students.
- Represent MLA values.
- Reports to Director of Studies/Assistant Director of Studies.
- 6 days per week (Monday to Saturday).
- Residential employment includes all meals and accommodation.
- Deliver high-quality and communicative EFL Task Based lessons as part of a teaching team, promoting the welfare of students and complying with MLA safeguarding policies. Plan and deliver lessons that engage students and increase use of English in lessons. Teaching hours are variable and organized by a centre rota; excursions or pastoral care outside teaching hours are not routinely required, though support outside teaching hours may be requested occasionally.
- Cooperate with colleagues to implement activities and integrate extra-curricular elements into EFL teaching.
- Leave classrooms secure and tidy after use and return any borrowed equipment. Participate in weekly CPD sessions.
Essential
- Must have a UK passport/right to work in the UK, and a valid DBS (England & Wales) or PVG (Scotland). If based outside the UK, a criminal record check from your country of residence may be required.
- Proven suitability to work with students under 18: at least 2 references.
- CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL qualification, or a PGCE/QTS award related to YL/ESOL/English/Languages (or equivalent Ofqual recognised standards).
- Other TEFL Level 5 certificates or TEFL certificates with proven observed teaching experience.
- A Level 6 degree or equivalent qualifications/experience.
- AccessTEFL in progress (portfolio).
- Experience of teaching EFL classes (including teaching practice).
Desirable
- DELTA / Trinity DipTESOL / MA TESOL completed or in progress.
- Master's degree in ELT/TESOL or related subjects.
- Experience teaching teenagers and EFL Summer School in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS/PVG registered on the Update Service.
- First Aid qualification.

Residential contracts are based on up to 42 working hours over a 7-day session with one day off per week. You will be expected to cover up to 36 contact teaching hours and up to 6 hours of meetings, administrative duties, and CPD sessions. Support outside working hours may be requested occasionally.
Key Position Accountabilities- Teaching: Prepare lessons with the aid of pre-made lesson plans and adapt them to class needs; liaise with co-teachers; teach EFL lessons at levels indicated by the Director of Studies.
- Inspire and motivate students; differentiate instruction for mixed abilities; provide varied activities; support with speaking level testing if required.
- Coordinate with the DoS/ADoS to implement the British Experience in lessons and integrate extra-curricular activities into EFL teaching; keep classrooms secure and tidy; participate in weekly CPD sessions.
- Administrative: Maintain attendance registers, mark and record progress, keep up-to-date teaching records, prepare professional reports, liaise with the DoS on student data, and support student feedback processes.
- Training & CPD: Complete onboarding training, attend in-centre induction, understand MLA policies, set personal development goals, participate in CPD sessions, and be open to feedback and professional development.
Take responsibility for maintaining teaching resources and keeping premises neat. Report any damage to classrooms promptly.
Safeguarding & Welfare- Provide safety and welfare assistance to students and be vigilant for welfare concerns.
- Inform the DoS of any absences from classes and report issues affecting safety, wellbeing or academic performance.
- Be aware of relevant health and safety issues and comply with MLA health and safety procedures; promote welfare in line with MLA Safeguarding Policy.
Residential Teachers GBP 540 weekly. Holiday Pay 12.07% added to rates, including holiday pay up to GBP 605 weekly.

Returning teachers receive GBP 150 bonus after completing full contract.
Note: you may be required to move to another centre where extra staff are required. If this occurs, we will cover travel expenses incurred.
