EFL Non-Residential Teacher Job Description

Title: EFL Non-Residential Teacher

Job Type: Non-Residential, Full-Time

Dates: July 1st - July 14th 2026 (possible extension in August)

Position Overview
  • Plan and deliver the academic program of EFL students.
  • Represent MLA values.
  • Work 6 days per week (Monday to Saturday); Non-Residential employment: no meals or accommodation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and adapt lessons using pre-made lesson plans to suit class composition.
  • Liaise with co teachers and the Director of Studies.
  • Teach EFL lessons across a range of levels.
  • Inspire and motivate learners, differentiate instruction and scaffold learning for mixed ability.
  • Provide diverse teaching activities matching student needs.
  • Support the TASKtime book and help students reach learning goals.
  • Cover teach and assist with speaking level testing when required.
  • Co operate to integrate "British Experience" and extra curricular activities.
  • Maintain tidy, secure classrooms and return any borrowed equipment.
  • Participate in weekly CPD sessions.
  • Complete attendance registers, record progress marks and maintain accurate teaching records.
  • Prepare professional student reports on time.
  • Assist with student feedback and liaise with the Director of Studies for data accuracy.
Administrative Duties
  • Manage attendance and record-keeping promptly.
  • Maintain up to date lesson plans and documentation.
  • Prepare accurate student reports free of typos.
  • Support completion of student feedback.
Training & CPD
  • Complete all required training courses and certificates during onboarding.
  • Attend an in centre induction and engage in discussion and feedback.
  • Read and understand MLA policies.
  • Adhere to handbook guidelines and set personal development goals.
  • Actively participate in CPD sessions.
  • Seek and provide guidance for professional development.
Schedule & Working Hours

Non Residential contracts: minimum 10 up to 36 working hours over a 7 day session, including at least one full day off per week. Expected to cover up to 36 contact teaching hours and up to 6 hours of meetings, administrative duties, and CPD sessions. Compensation is calculated with a 15%-17% add on for administrative duties. Working hours may be variable and organised by rota.

Compensation
  • Up to £673 per week (plus 12.07% holiday pay).
  • Hourly rate £15-£16 plus 15%-17% for administrative duties (plus 12.07% holiday pay).

Requirements Essential Requirements
  • UK passport or right to work in the UK, valid DBS (England & Wales) or PVG (Scotland). If based outside the UK, a criminal record check from the country of residence is required.
  • Proven suitability to work with students under 18 (at least 2 references).
  • CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, or a PGCE/QTS award related to YL/ESOL/English/Languages, or equivalent Ofqual recognised standards.
  • Other TEFL Level 5 certificates or TEFL certificates with proven observed experience considered.
  • Level 6 degree or equivalent qualifications/experience.
  • AccessTEFL portfolio in progress.
  • Experience of teaching EFL classes (including teaching practice).
Desirable Requirements
  • DELTA, Trinity DipTESOL or MA TESOL completed or in progress.
  • Master's Degree in ELT/TESOL or related subjects.
  • Experience teaching teenagers.
  • EFL summer school teaching experience in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS/PVG registered on the Update Service.
  • First Aid qualification.
