Offer DescriptionApplications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or 2 within UCD School of Earth Sciences
The research focus of this role will be collection and processing of varied laboratory sample or drill core data, including infrared hyperspectral images to produce high throughput proxies for complex geological properties. Collection of geochemical and petrological reference data to train models is an equally important component of this task. The post will involve spectral, petrophysical, and geochemical characterization of reference samples, with research assistance provided, requiring laboratory work in Dublin and geological field work/site visits in the UAE and in Ireland. Working closely with iCRAG petrologists, geochemists, geophysicists, sedimentologists, and company geologists, the candidate will contribute to the development of a high-powered methods and playbooks for exploring varied natural resources, with a view to developing intellectual property and spin-out potential where appropriate. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will also play an important role in developing and rolling out a new Multi-Sensor Core Logger integrated core scanning lab in the School of Earth Sciences. Opportunities will exist for fieldwork in Ireland and overseas.
UCD Post doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or 2 Salary Scale: €47,273 - €53,925 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
