UASC Experienced Social Worker

Are you a dedicated and experienced Social Worker with a passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people? We are currently seeking a highly skilled UASC Experienced Social Worker to join our client City's Children's Social Care team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of unaccompanied asylum seeking children, individuals with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF), and those experiencing intentional homelessness.

Position Overview

The UASC Experienced Social Worker will play a vital role in delivering high quality assessments and interventions to safeguard children and promote their long term stability. The role involves working closely with multi agency partners, including housing services, health, education, legal professionals, and immigration authorities.

Candidate Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive Child and Family Assessments to inform care planning and safeguarding decisions
  • Complete Human Rights Assessments ensuring compliance with the Human Rights Act 1998, safeguarding individuals' dignity, accommodation, and family life rights
  • Manage complex cases involving UASC, NRPF, and intentional homelessness situations
  • Support young people through the asylum and immigration process upon presentation to the council
  • Carry out Merton compliant age assessments as required
  • Work collaboratively with housing services to assess and respond to homelessness and intentionality issues
  • Develop, review, and implement care plans, pathway plans, and housing solutions
  • Partner effectively with health, education, legal services, and the Home Office to assist vulnerable young people
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and children in care to ensure smooth transitions to long term support services

Requirements
  • Possession of a full driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Willingness to travel within and outside the council area as required
  • Relevant Social Work qualification and registration
  • Experience working with UASC, NRPF, or homelessness is essential
  • Strong assessment, communication, and partnership working skills
