The Treasury Accountant has primary responsibility for the accounting and reporting requirements of the Group's Treasury activities, including accounting for complex debt and derivatives transactions. The job holder will work closely with both Treasury and wider Finance directorate and will have ownership of the accounting processes for bank and Treasury-related general ledger reconciliations. The role will also assist in the implementation and development of the Group's new Treasury Management System and will support other key workstreams for the Finance and Treasury teams. The Treasury Accountant will support the wider Treasury team with any ad-hoc requirements.

  • Account for complex debt and derivative transactions, including interest rate, inflation and cross-currency swaps, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Lead month-end treasury processes, including journals, interest reporting, bank reconciliations and preparation of treasury disclosures under FRS 102, supporting the annual audit.
  • Review external valuation reports, monitor intercompany loans and covenants, and maintain accurate treasury documentation.
  • Oversee and reconcile treasury transactions within the Treasury Management System, supporting payment processing and daily cash positioning across the Group.
  • Produce regular treasury reporting, including weekly reports and periodic FX risk analysis, liaising with Treasury and Procurement as required.
  • Support the administration of e-banking and treasury systems, including user mandates, supplier set-ups and dealing platforms.
  • Contribute to policy maintenance and updates, ensuring treasury mandates and governance documentation remain current.
  • Provide operational support and cover within the Treasury team, driving process improvements and offering guidance on complex treasury accounting matters.

What you will need

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ICAS);
  • Working knowledge and experience in Treasury Accounting under UK GAAP (FRS 102) (especially debt and derivatives, including hedge accounting);
  • Experience with cash management;
  • Familiarity with Treasury related disclosure requirements under FRS 102;
  • Working knowledge of Treasury Management Systems;
  • Ability to partner and influence, challenge and negotiate;
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English both written and spoken;
  • High attention to detail and ability to work accurately when under pressure and ability to manage tight deadlines;
  • Proactive outlook and approach;
  • Team player with the ability to act on own initiative when appropriate;
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • AMCT or studying towards
  • Familiarity with developing and implementing TMS
  • Familiarity with dealing platforms
  • Process improvement experience
