We are looking to recruit to the post of Core Psychiatry Training Programme Director.
This role is for 7 hours per week (1.75 EMC)
The role of Training Programme Director is to work with and support the Head of School in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the NHS England mandate.
Main duties of the jobThe Training Programme Director is professionally and managerially accountable to the Head of School. The Training Programme Director will focus upon improvement of learner supervision, assessment and experience, engagement of faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future. The role is evolving and will also focus on whole workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.
To support the Postgraduate Dean, Training Programme Directors will work across the spectrum of health and where relevant, social care, within the context of a team, so that the provision of education reflects changing service models. This will deliver an integrated workforce comprising individuals from a spectrum of professional and other backgrounds.

Earlier this year, the Government announced that NHS England will gradually merge with the Department of Health and Social Care, leading to full integration. The aim is to create a smaller, more strategic centre that reduces duplication and eliminates waste.

Job responsibilitiesNHSE is expected to cease as a separate entity with the merger into DHSC, therefore extensions and new appointments can only be guaranteed up until 31 March 2027. We anticipate educator roles being required beyond this point and further arrangements to be made once the new structure becomes clearer. We recognise this will create some uncertainty and will do our best to keep any potentially impacted informed of future plans as they come available.

Person Specification Skills and Abilities- Demonstrate leadership skills and an ability to influence and motivate others
- Strong interpersonal, communication, written and presentation skills
- Considerable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context.
- Experience of clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi professional team
- Primary clinical healthcare qualification
- Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association and/or regulatory body relevant to the speciality
- Currently working as a Consultant in the appropriate speciality area
- A continuing quest for personal and professional development
