Job Description

The Anaesthesia Training Programme Director for Study Leave for the North West (Mersey) Rotation will support the Head of School/Associate Head of School in the Strategic Development of the School of Anaesthesia.

The post holder will lead on the development of the School's Study Leave strategy and contribute to supporting the Head of School/Associate Head of School around assuring the quality of courses, which are available, and administering the Study Leave budget for Stages 1, 2 and 3.

The post holder will be a member of the School Specialty Training Committee.

Main duties of the job
  • Work in collaboration with Head of School/Associate Head of School of Anaesthesia to administer the Study Leave budget for all Stages of training.
  • To work with interested trainers in the development of local courses.
  • To ensure that all trainees receive the best value for money from their study leave budget.

Job responsibilities

The Programme Director will ensure that both national standards, determined by the Royal College, and guidelines and standards established within Anaesthesia are met.

Secondments

Qualifications
  • Consultant or Specialty Doctor in Anaesthesia currently working in NW England
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists
  • Education Qualification such as Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or Masters in Medical Education
Experience
  • Experience of Quality Assurance in the School of Anaesthesia
  • Experience in the use of the Study Leave systems for NHSE
  • Experience as a panel member on ARCP
  • Applicants who are doctors require a Licence to Practise
  • Considerable experience of working with doctors in an educational context
  • Experience as an educational supervisor
  • Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education
  • Trained and experienced in recruitment, selection and Equality and Diversity in the last 3 years
  • Experience in Recruitment at a national level
