Job Description

Landmarc Support Services are currently seeking to recruit a Training Area Operative to join our dedicated team. In this role you will play a key part in helping to maintain a safe, efficient and sustainable place for our Armed Forces to train.We are looking for someone enthusiastic about working in an outdoor environment, dedicated to supporting the Military. Role Details

Salary: £26,877.57

Location: Wyke Regis Training Camp, Weymouth, Dorset, DT4 9HH

Contract: Permanent / Full time / On-site

Hours: Monday to Thursday (08:00 - 16:30), Friday (08:00 - 13:00)

We maintain safe, sustainable infrastructure, operate training areas and ranges, and deliver major projects that enhance vital military training assets. What You'll Do
  • Estate & Facility Maintenance: Undertake essential ground maintenance and basic DIY to ensure the camp remains in peak condition.
  • Maritime Operations: Operate, maintain, clean, and report faults on Combat Support Boats (CSBs) and Inflatable W525 Safety Boats.
  • Training Support: Act as a critical Safety Boat or Crane Operator, during live military training exercises.
  • Logistics & Asset Care: Assist with boat and bridging related stores preparation, stock-taking, conduct specialised Water Safety Equipment (WSE) inspections and maintain records.
  • Specialised Tasks: Carry out crane slinging operations and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) as required.
  • Team Collaboration: Maintain rigorous Health & Safety standards, communicate effectively with military stakeholders, and support operations across other Landmarc sites when required.
What We're Looking For
  • Essential: A solid understanding of Health & Safety practices (including COSHH, manual handling, and risk assessments).
  • Excellent communication skills with a track record of delivering great customer service.
  • Prior experience as a range or training area user is highly advantageous.
  • The ability to work effectively within a diverse, multi-tasking, mobile team across land and sea.
  • Strong practical skills (basic labouring, caretaking, and housekeeping).
  • Competence in completing operational documentation and basic IT systems.
  • A proven track record of achieving objectives and working safely.
  • A full, valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Flexibility to occasionally travel to other sites and attend residential training courses.

  • RYA L2 Powerboat
  • VHF Radio Licence (Maritime Radio Operator)
  • RYA First Aid on Water / Sea Survival Certificate
  • Crane Slinging Certificate
  • Strimming Operator / Ride-on Mower Certificates
  • Water Safety Equipment (WSE) Life Jacket Supervisor / Maintainer
  • Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) Certificate
  • Knowledge of MoD systems (MJDI and JAMES)
