About the Role

Thinking about working in a school but don't have experience yet? This is a way in.

We're looking for Trainee Teaching Assistants to work across schools in Bristol. You don't need a background in education, we'll train you and support you into your first placement.

You'll be working in real classrooms, building confidence and getting hands on experience while learning on the job.

What you'll be doing:
  • Supporting pupils in class, in small groups, or 1:1
  • Helping teachers with day-to-day classroom tasks
  • Supporting behaviour and keeping pupils engaged
  • Getting used to different school settings and routines
  • Building confidence working with children
National Teaching Assistant Programme

Before and during your placement, you'll complete a set of straightforward, practical training courses:

  • Safeguarding
  • Behaviour Management
  • Introduction to being a Teaching Assistant
  • SEN awareness in schools and colleges

We'll guide you through all of this - nothing is left for you to figure out on your own.

Placement & Support
  • We'll help find your school placement
  • You'll have a dedicated consultant checking in with you
  • Ongoing support while you're in school
  • Help moving into longer term or permanent roles if that's what you want
Flexible Work
  • 0-hour contract - you choose when you're available
  • Day to day work or longer placements
  • Fits around other commitments
What we're looking for:
  • Someone reliable who wants to work with children
  • Willing to learn and get involved
  • Good communication and a calm approach
  • Able to build positive relationships
  • DBS on the Update Service (or willing to get one)

No qualifications needed - attitude matters more here.

What you'll get:
  • Free training through our National Teaching Assistant Programme
  • Support from start to placement and beyond
  • Weekly pay
  • Flexible working
  • A clear route into a permanent school role
Why this role?

A lot of people use this as their starting point in education. You'll get proper support, real experience, and a clear idea of whether this is the right path for you.
