This Trainee Site Manager position will work within the Defence business. You will work alongside a highly experienced team delivering maintenance and new build projects for some prestigious customers.
We are open to Apprentices looking to work and study, and full time Graduates who have completed their qualification and are looking for a stable and rewarding career.
The Trainee Site Manager provides support and assistance to the Site Manager in overseeing and coordinating the operations at a specific site or location. They collaborate with various teams and stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective management of the site and adherence to organisational goals and standards.
Key Responsibilities
It is envisaged that the role will support the aim of Sweet Projects in serving all client needs. This will be achieved by:
- Project Coordination: Assist the Site Manager in coordinating all on-site activities, including construction progress, material deliveries, and workforce scheduling. You will work closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure the project remains on schedule and within budget.
- Health and Safety: Help enforce strict safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations on the construction site. This involves conducting safety inspections, identifying potential hazards, and taking appropriate measures to mitigate risks and maintain a safe work environment.
- Quality Control: Assist in monitoring the quality of workmanship and materials to ensure that construction activities meet or exceed industry standards and project specifications. You will collaborate with the Site Manager to address any issues related to work quality promptly.
Ensuring delivery on time, to budget and to agreed quality ensuring procedures and processes are followed / maintained and that authorisation parameters are not exceeded thus ensuring compliance with our group processes and procedures.
The Trainee Site Managers duties and responsibilities include:
- Assist in developing a culture within projects that embodies the values of the company.
- Support the Site Manager in all aspects of site operations, including planning, organising, and controlling activities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of site policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Coordinate with different departments and teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.
- Monitor and evaluate site operations, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions.
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist in the hiring, training, and supervision of site personnel.
- Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure the availability of resources and materials as needed.
- Manage inventory levels and conduct regular inspections to ensure proper maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Prepare and maintain reports, records, and documentation related to site activities.
- Communicate effectively with the Site Manager, team members, and stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and resolve issues.
- Adhere to the policies, process' and procedures in the Integrated Management System and the Information Security Management System.
The duties listed are not exhaustive and may be varied from time to time as dictated by the changing needs of the Company. The post holder will be expected to undertake other duties as appropriate and as requested by his/her manager.
The post holder may be required to work at any of the locations at which the business of Sweet Projects is conducted.
Experience required
- A good understanding of construction methods and technology including materials.
- A proactive knowledge of the management of health, safety and environment
- Understanding of contract documentation and reporting and how best to protect Sweet Projects Commercially
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and experience in implementing safety protocols.
- Be fully IT competent.
- Have an understanding of planning techniques and the use of relevant software
