Job Description
Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner - Emergency Medicine

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, a leading teaching Trust rated "Good" by the Care Quality Commission, is expanding its advanced practice workforce within Emergency Medicine.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate acute medicine professional eager for career progression. The successful candidate will work under clinical supervision and will be engaged in the MSc in Advanced Practice, progressing to Band 8a.

Main duties
  • Assess non-elective patients, including initial history, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care under the supervision of senior clinicians.
  • Demonstrate safe clinical decision making and expert care, prescribing medication as required.
  • Collaborate with emergency medicine teams to deliver patient care, service delivery, and adherence to policy and procedures.
  • Guide junior medical and nursing staff in relation to relevant protocols and procedures.
  • Work across all areas of emergency medicine, including the emergency department, acute medicine and urgent and emergency care, providing primary and secondary assessment alongside medical colleagues.
  • Ensure evidence based care is delivered, contribute to audit, research and service improvement.
  • Upon completion of the MSc in Advanced Practice, including the non medical prescribing module, achieve a satisfactory level of competency evidenced by a successful ACAT assessment and progress to Band 8a.
Qualifications and experience
  • Graduated with a Qualifying Degree (see supporting documents).
  • MSci in Advanced Practice (see supporting documents).
  • Experience in acute and emergency medicine (see supporting documents).
  • Non medical prescribing competence (see supporting documents).
