Rate: £21.88ph via an Umbrella Company (Inside IR35) or £16.42ph PAYE

Hours: Standard 40 Hours Per Week. This role will start on a standard day shift pattern and will transition to double day shifts within approximately 2 months, as skills and system familiarity increase.

Job Description:Duties:
- Support the operation of the laboratory and assist the Lead Engineer in managing current and future Internal Combustion & Emissions laboratory capabilities.
- Engage directly with university academia and third-party engineering teams to support engine testing in new test cells.
- Assist in the preparation of test samples, including installation and instrumentation of units under test.
- Collaborate with the laboratory team and clients to ensure smooth operations and safety compliance.
- Operate and maintain test facilities, ensuring equipment is in good working order and compliant with health, safety, and quality standards.
This is a hands-on role involving practical, technical, and facility operations, offering a unique opportunity to work on a university campus with various stakeholders.
As part of your responsibilities, you will work with the Engineer to operate two Multi Cycle Engine Test Dyno facilities and support other facilities as needed. The shift pattern will start on days and may shift to double shifts after skills development.
Skills:- Preparation of units under test, understanding internal combustion systems (spark and compression ignition).
- Fabrication, welding, and basic machining skills are advantageous.
- Experience with instrumentation installation (thermocouples, pressure transducers, etc.).
- Engine disassembly and assembly skills.
- Support supervised operation of engine test facilities.
- Assist in technical discussions with customers to develop test methodologies.
- Operate facilities adhering to H&S and ISO standards (16949, 14001).
- Train and transfer knowledge to new team members.
- Perform routine maintenance and liaise with suppliers for equipment upkeep.
- City & Guilds Level 3 or fully time-served apprenticeship in a relevant discipline.
- Relevant experience to support application.
