Test Competency Lead

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Test Competency Lead to define and drive testing strategy across a complex SAP-centered landscape within the retail domain. This role is critical in ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of SAP systems and integrated applications that support core business operations.

As the Test Competency Lead, you will oversee end-to-end testing across SAP modules and microservices, lead automation initiatives, manage performance testing, and guide a testing chapter to elevate standards, capabilities, and delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

1. End-to-End Testing Leadership

• Define and manage comprehensive E2E test strategies across SAP modules (e.g., SD, MM, FI/CO, Retail) and adjacent systems
• Ensure testing coverage for key processes like procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, inventory, and finance
• Coordinate with business stakeholders, developers, and functional consultants to validate workflows and requirements
• Manage test planning, execution, defect management, and closure activities across releases

2. Test Automation

• Lead the implementation of automation frameworks suitable for SAP (e.g., Tricentis Tosca, Worksoft Certify, UFT)
• Identify and prioritize regression scenarios for automation and integrate into CI/CD pipelines
• Define automation standards to ensure maintainability and reusability across the suite
• Champion automation maturity through training, coaching, and best practices

3. Performance Testing

• Define strategies for load, stress, and scalability testing of SAP processes, interfaces, and jobs
• Ensure readiness for peak retail operations through rigorous performance testing
• Use tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, or SAP Solution Manager to monitor and analyze system KPIs
• Collaborate with infrastructure and Basis teams to optimize system performance

4. Chapter Leadership & Competency Uplift

• Lead the SAP Testing Chapter, defining testing standards, templates, and governance
• Mentor QA analysts, support professional development, and encourage certifications
• Collaborate with Chapter Leads and Centers of Excellence to align quality practices
• Stay ahead of testing innovations and drive continuous improvement in methods and tools

• Program and Project Managers
• QA Analysts and Automation Engineers
• External implementation partners

Success Indicators:

• Reduced test cycle durations through automation and streamlined workflows
• System performance sustained during peak load periods
• Measurable growth in testing competency, maturity, and capability across the chapter
• QA strategy aligned with business priorities and technology roadmaps

Qualifications & Experience:

• 8+ years in SAP testing, with extensive end-to-end retail process knowledge
• Hands-on experience with SAP test automation and performance testing
• Proven leadership in managing testing teams, chapters, or QA communities
• Experience with tools like SAP Solution Manager, SAP Cloud ALM, Jira, Azure DevOps
• Preferred expertise in Tricentis Tosca, Neoload, or Q.Test
• Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, and SAP Activate methodologies

This is a 12 months contract + extension
