Job Description
The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Tenure Track Assistant Professor in " Engineering Immune Cells for Therapy " to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term (6 year) tenure-track professorship with the possibility for promotion to a tenured W3. Scientific Environment The professorship will be assigned to the TUM School of Medicine and Health, which is one of the strongest medical research and teaching locations in Germany. Within the School, the professorship will be affiliated to the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Hygiene. Next to the Institute's excellent research infrastructure, the relevant core facilities at the TUM School of Medicine and Health, provides an outstanding basis for scientific success. Relevant research networks at TUM, in the greater Munich area and beyond (including the TRR338/CRC LETSImmun, the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF), the German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research (DKTK), the Bavarian Center for Cancer Research (BZKF provide an excellent and cooperative research environment. Responsibilities The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of "Cell and Gene Therapy" with a focus on the engineering of immune cells, preferably lymphocytes, for adoptive or in vivo cell therapies. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university's bachelor and master programs include participation in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs at TUM, especially in the field of immunology for students of human medicine, biology, biotechnology and biochemistry. Qualifications We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected (please see for further information).
