Temporary Summer Firefighter Position - 2026
The Wembley Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the Temporary Summer Firefighter position. This position spans eight (8) thirty-five (35) hour work weeks.
In collaboration with Employment and Social Development Canada Summer Job Program, the Wembley Fire Department is offering this opportunity for the 2026 spring/summer work term. This position entails 280 Hours of work.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Hourly Rate:$25.00/HR
Hours of Work: Hours of work are flexible between the hours of 08:00-18:00
Position Type: Temporary/Contract
Benefits/Pension: None - This position does not qualify for benefits or pension plan through the Town of Wembley
Paid Vacation:None - This position does not qualify for paid vacation time
Start Date: The start date is flexible and can begin between May 1st, 2026 - June 1st, 2026
QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidates must be between 15 and 30 years of age, inclusive, at the commencement of employment, adhering to the CSJ program guidelines.
- Applicantsmustbe Canadian citizens, permanent residentsor individualswhohavebeenconferred refugee protection undertheImmigrationandRefugee ProtectionAct.
- Applicants must possess legal entitlement to work as per relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
- Valid Standard First Aid with Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- NFPA Firefighter 1001 Level I and or II considered an asset.
- Possession of a Class 3Q driver's license is considered an asset.
- Driver Operator and/or pump operator experience or NFPA 1002 Driver Operator/NFPA 1002 Pump Operator is considered an asset.
