Legal Contracts Manager - Temporary - Part time 3 days a week

  • Days 3 days a week Hybrid In office on Tuesday for Tems Meetings
  • Duration: Ongoing (with potential for temporary to permanent)

We are currently seeking a temporary Legal Contracts Manager to join the Business Development Team within the Research and Innovation Services of the University. The Legal Contracts Manager role is essential for supporting the university's teaching, research, and external engagement activities through expert management of various contracts.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Oversee, review, advise, draft, and negotiate a wide range of higher education agreements, including NDAs, CDAs, MTAs, research collaboration contracts, data sharing agreements, and partnership MOUs.
  • Ensure that all contracts and agreements are reviewed in a timely manner and uploaded to the system.
  • Manage multiple contracts simultaneously, maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provide expert advice to academic staff, researchers, and professional services on contractual risk, compliance, and commercial considerations.
  • Balance research freedom, institutional risk management, and funder requirements to enable successful partnerships with universities, industry, public bodies, and international institutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • First Degree or equivalent relevant experience in Law.
  • Business or Commercial Law qualification or relevant experience.
  • Broad knowledge of contracts and contract law.
  • Experience in overseeing, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of contracts within the higher education sector.
  • Proven ability to advise on regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Skilled in IP negotiations and drafting contracts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent organizational skills.
