Role Overview

Salary: £31,537 - £34,434 per annum

Grade: H

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire (with additional support required in Malton and Selby localities)

We are looking for a Temporary Accommodation Officer to join our Housing Needs Service and manage council owned temporary accommodation for homeless households.

Responsibilities

As a Temporary Accommodation Officer you will be responsible for the day to day running of the council's temporary accommodation, ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed at sign up and fully explaining the conditions of occupancy to residents.

You will collect temporary accommodation charges, resolve breaches of licence conditions in accordance with council policy, recommend possession action where necessary, and undertake evictions in line with North Yorkshire Council policy.

Your role will also involve housing management functions: arranging inspections of void properties, clearing, gas and electrical safety checks, repairs and re letting to minimise void periods and income loss.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Good working knowledge of the Homeless Reduction Act 2017
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • IT literacy

  • Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise workload
  • Initiative and effective teamwork
