Job Description

Location: Newcastle (onsite twice per week)

Hydrogen Group are supporting our pensions client in the search for a Technical Pensions Specialist to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced pensions professional to step into a pivotal technical role within a highly regarded organisation and will be responsibe for managing a team.

The Role

You will act as a subject matter expert on pensions and platform-related issues, with exposure across DC, Money Purchase, Personal Pensions, SIPPs, and SSASs. The role involves managing complex technical queries, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting continuous improvement across the organisation's pension operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical guidance on pension legislation, regulations, and scheme rules.

  • Managing complex cases including drawdown, death benefits, divorce, and disputes.

  • Supporting the business in implementing process and regulatory changes.

  • Leading technical input across projects and operational improvements.

  • Delivering internal training and supporting the development of technical knowledge within teams.

  • Ensuring all pension processes comply with FCA, HMRC, and TPR regulations.

About You

You'll bring deep technical knowledge of pensions administration, ideally gained in a platform, provider, or consultancy environment. You'll be confident analysing legislation, interpreting guidance, and advising on compliance and best practice.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Strong understanding of DC pensions, SIPP/SSAS administration, and auto-enrolment.

  • In-depth knowledge of UK pensions legislation and governance frameworks.

  • Proven experience resolving complex technical issues and supporting operational teams.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Financial Services qualifications (such as R04/FPC/CF9 or equivalent) desirable.
