LiuGong is rapidly expanding its Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) portfolio to meet increasing market demand for zero-emission, low TCO machinery and is building a management team to lead this transformation throughout Europe.

The Opportunity

Elite has been retained exclusively to identify an experienced and dynamic BEV Technical Manager to spearhead LiuGong's electric construction equipment rollout across the European market.

Reporting directly to the European Product Director, this role will be instrumental in delivering technical solutions that enable successful adoption and support of LiuGong's battery electric vehicles in Europe and other mature markets. This includes developing charging infrastructure, battery lifecycle strategies, warranty structures, diagnostics, and regulatory compliance. This is a newly created position and will be instrumental in delivering a full service BEV eco-system and ensuring long-term customer success and sustainability alignment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Charging Infrastructure Development: Develop and validate LiuGong-branded and third-party charging solutions across various duty cycles and applications.
  • Introduce scalable systems including portable chargers, battery containers, exchange systems, and fixed charging piles.
  • Ensure all charging equipment complies with European standards, is serviceable locally, and has appropriate warranty and liability structures.
  • Aftersales Enablement: Lead the rollout and enablement of BEV-specific service protocols and diagnostic tools.
  • Manage technical training to deal technicians, rental staff, and customer operators.
  • Develop structured support systems to improve uptime, remote diagnostics, and machine availability.
  • : Define 2nd life and end-of-life strategies aligned with EU compliance, transport laws, and circular economy initiatives.
  • Engage with certified partners for safe recycling, logistics, and energy storage reuse.
  • Telematics & Connectivity: Improve BEV-specific telematics platforms that monitor energy usage, uptime, and battery status.
  • Customized dashboards and reports for key accounts and rental customers.
  • Facilitate API integration with customer fleet systems to streamline asset management.
  • Warranty & Product Reliability: Define new warranty structures for BEV platforms considering powertrain, charging, and energy storage risk factors.
  • Implement root cause tracking for failures and collaborate with R&D and service teams for continuous improvement.
  • Deliver technical training programs that ensure compliance with CE standards and safety best practices.
  • Support development of technical manuals and install guidelines in line with EU regulations.
  • TCO & Business Case Support: Build lifecycle calculators for service teams and customers to model long-term BEV ownership costs.
  • Education customers on savings potential from maintenance, energy use, and regulatory incentives.
  • Represent LiuGong in industry working groups, BEV conferences, and electrification panels.
  • Publish technical white papers and use cases demonstrating LiuGong's innovation and field performance.
  • Collaborate with product marketing to align technical insights with commercial narratives.
Experience:

Applications are sought from Senior Engineers or Managers who can demonstrate significant experience with electric vehicle product development and commercial realization into the market.

  • Previous experience in battery systems, electric charging, vehicle telematics, and diagnostics gained working for a vehicle OEM or EV consultancy.
  • Extensive knowledge of electric vehicle systems and architecture (BEV, AEV, HEV, PHEV, FCEV) as used in off-highway construction equipment, commercial vehicles, or passenger vehicles.
  • Experience of vehicle electrification or EV charging infrastructure, CE standards, battery recycling, and electrification legislation.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Confident communicator without standing stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
  • Fluent English writing & verbal language skills essential; additional European languages a plus.
  • Working from home but able to travel across Europe, UK, and China for business meetings, you could be based anywhere in the UK, Germany, Poland, France, Benelux, or Scandinavian countries.
