Technical Lead (Python & AWS)
Oxford (Hybrid 2-3 days per week)
£80,000 - £100,000 + Bonus + Progression + Benefits

An excellent opportunity awaits an experienced developer with strong Python and AWS skills to join a leading energy solutions firm. This company leads PaaS solutions for the energy sector on a brilliant growth trajectory, led by a leadership team with extensive UK Energy and Tech expertise.

In this role you will take ownership of the engineering function across a team of thirteen. You will cover technical direction and architecture, standards, tooling, development process, coaching, and overall output quality. The teams are small, self managing, and the work leans towards the back end. The role offers a clear structured progression into a Head of role, hiring and shaping the team to scale.

We are looking for a candidate with strong full stack experience, ideally Python backend and JavaScript front end (React or TypeScript), plus expertise in multi tiered architecture via APIs and a serverless AWS setup (Lambda, S3, SQS, API Gateway). Solid technical leadership or line management experience is essential. Energy or adjacent industry experience is desirable but not mandatory.

The Role:
  • Lead the engineering function of a small to medium sized software team.
  • Own technical direction, standards, tooling, and delivery quality.
  • Coach and develop junior and mid level engineers.
  • Oversee back end led work within an agile sprint cycle.
  • Support future hiring as the role progresses into Head of Software/Development.
  • Based in Oxford office, 2 3 days per week.
The Person:
  • Strong SDLC experience with Python back end and JavaScript front end (React or TypeScript).
  • Confidence with multi tiered architecture via APIs and serverless AWS (Lambda, S3, SQS, API Gateway).
  • Solid technical leadership or line management background.
  • Able to guide standards, process, and engineering best practice.
  • Energy sector experience desirable but not essential.
  • Based within commutable distance to Oxford office.
